Age and appointment guidance
This kids service is intended primarily for younger children: Asili's kids styling covers children at least 2 years old, and traditional kids hair services generally suit ages up to 8. The salon also offers children's options through age 10, but if your child has an adult-size head or very thick hair please book under regular braiding services instead.
Shampoo and blow-dry are included with the service; however, please be considerate of your child's temperament. If your child is calmer arriving washed and blow-dryed, that is perfectly acceptable. The appointment is scheduled for 120 minutes and the price is $150, so plan accordingly for travel time to our Pikesville location on Reisterstown Road.
How invisible locs are created
Invisible locs aim to produce a neat, low-profile look by using small, closely set locs that sit near the scalp. The final appearance is determined by the child's natural hair density, texture and head size; stylists adapt placement and spacing to suit comfort and age without compromising neatness.
Expect the stylist to discuss choices with you and to adjust handling to your child's temperament. Parents are encouraged to bring a familiar toy or snack, and we will include a gentle shampoo and blow-dry. Because results depend on hair characteristics, the stylist will explain routine care and realistic expectations during the appointment.
What to bring and prepare
Plan for the full 120-minute appointment when booking and aim to arrive a few minutes early to settle your child. If the child is more comfortable already washed and blow-dryed, please come with hair prepped; otherwise our included shampoo and blow-dry will be provided but may extend handling time depending on temperament.
Our Pikesville location is on the Reisterstown Road commercial corridor with easy access for commuters via I-695, which makes scheduling evenings or weekends a good option for busy families. We serve nearby communities including Baltimore, Randallstown and Owings Mills, so consider off-peak times to reduce travel stress.
