How the service works
Kids Braids appointments include a gentle shampoo and blow-dry as part of the service; please be considerate of your child’s temperament because these steps require cooperation. Our team styles children up to 10 years old, with attention to comfort and safety. If a child is calmer arriving washed and blow-dried, you are welcome to do so.
This service does not include any added hair extensions or beads, and is intended for children whose heads and hair match typical child proportions. If your child’s head is adult size or has thick hair, please book under our regular braiding services instead. Price is $100 and the scheduled time is 90 minutes.
Child temperament and scheduling
Temperament shapes how the appointment runs: a cooperative child will usually move through shampoo, blow-dry, and braiding more smoothly. Many local parents find off-peak times easier; our Pikesville location has easy access from Reisterstown Road and I-695, which can make short pre- or post-commute visits more practical for busy families.
If your child is anxious about salon visits, consider bringing a favorite toy or planning the appointment after naps or meals. You may also bring your child already washed and blow-dried if that helps — the included shampoo/blow-dry is optional depending on temperament and readiness.
Care, climate, and limitations
Aftercare focuses on comfort and gentle handling rather than complex maintenance. Because the region has hot, humid summers and cold winters, protect styles at night with a satin scarf or cap to reduce friction and help braids settle. Avoid introducing beads or added hair if you prefer lower-tension, child-focused styling.
Remember the service constraints: no additional hair or beads are provided with this option, and session length is planned for 90 minutes. If you expect a more elaborate style or need added hair, book a regular braiding service that accommodates those materials and extra time.
